TREASURE HUNTING

Many of you may ask the question "What is Treasure Hunting?" Treasure Hunting is an exciting model for witnessing that uses words of knowledge as the clues to find people who God wants to bring into His Treasure Chest (His Kingdom). Treasure Hunting does not carry a "street witnessing" emphasis, which conjures up visions of peaching on a street corner, arguing with people about theological nuances or telling people how bad they are and that they should repent before God comes to strike them dead with His judgement. Rather, the goal is to find specific people whom the Holy Spirit has highlighted on the treasure map, people who need a divine encounter of

allow God to speak through us prophetically to encourage and to reveal how much God loves and cares for them. If they agree to prayer, we address each need and allow God to lead us. Of course, if they do not know Jesus as Lord and Savior, our hope is the encounter will instill the desire within them to want to know more about the wonderful God who just touched and ministered to them.

The greatest miracle we can ever hope to witness is seeing people receive Christ into their hearts and lives

Luke 15:8-10 states, “Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Won’t she light a lamp and sweep the entire house and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds it, she will call in her friends and neighbors and say, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost coin.’ In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents” (NLT).

The first step in this process is prayer; intentional, Holy Spirit led prayer, in which God speaks to us and provides the "clues" we need to complete our "Treasure Maps". The clues often include: location (Walmart, Target, Panera, Starbucks, Mall, etc.), a person's name (first and / or last names, nicknames, names of relatives), a person's appearance (how they look, their build / body size, what they are wearing, hair color, race, etc.), what they might need prayer for (healing of specific body parts or from various diseases, emotional issues, salvation, marriage, etc.) and the unusual (lollipop, windmill, green door, dolphins, etc.). These words of wisdom from God can either be a mental picture (lady with red hair, a blue hat, cast on left leg, etc.), a "word" (Walmart, etc.), a scripture verse or even a sensation in our body (depressed feelings, unusual pain that may indicate a similar pain that someone may be experiencing). Indeed, God will use all of our senses to reveal things to us such as taste, smell, touch, hearing and seeing. Once our treasure map is completed, we travel to a location determined by our clues and begin looking for God's "Treasure!" Eventually, we find the Treasure and introduce ourselves. We explain that The Holy Spirit has highlighted them on our Treasure Maps. We then
